Relax and wellness

Wellness Centre

The same rush every morning: sprinting for the bus, caught in a traffic jam, grabbing a quick bite to eat – there’s barely enough time to catch your breath. Our daily workload with cell phones, computer, etc. takes its toll: we have desperately little time to look after ourselves, find new strength and enjoy a moment of peace.

It’s time to take a step out of this exhausting cycle of stress and lack of time. It’s time to experience wellbeing, get some physical activity, begin to feel things and observe the accumulated stress of the work week slowly fade away; this is an intense feeling of wellness.

"Wellness" means "to feel well"....

And that is why we have created a wellness programme at the OREA Hotel Palace Zvon in Marianské Lázne just for you:

  • Swimming pool with a counter current, massage jets and lighting effects
  • Roman bath with sauna and steam baths
  • Massages
  • Private baths
  • Packs
  • Gas wraps and injections
  • Inhalation and oxygen therapy
  • Gerovital

HOTEL SWIMMING POOL
The swimming pool at the OREA Hotel Palace Zvon is at your disposal every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The swimming pool is equipped with a counter current, massage jets and lights. The water temperature is around 29°C. There is also a bar offering soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. The swimming pool is available to hotel guests free of charge. Morning exercise classes for groups or individuals are held in the swimming pool.

ROMAN BATHS
Roman baths consist of both a sauna and a steam bath. Above all the sauna and the steam bath help relax the locomotive system muscles, with subsequent overall relaxation. The higher temperatures increase perspiration, which helps eliminate toxic substances from the body. The sauna also strengthens the immune system and helps prevent colds. The steam bath also has a positive effect on skin regeneration. The recommended length of time in the sauna is 15 minutes, followed by a cold shower to cool the body a short relaxation period. This procedure can be repeated several times. The cost for use of the sauna and steam bath is CZK 200 for 2 hours.

MASSAGE

PARTIAL OR FULL-BODY CLASSIC MASSAGE - Massage improves blood circulation in the massaged area, supports the evacuation of surface veins and lymph vessels, relaxes tight muscles and decreases muscle tension, facilitates the reduction of swelling and hematomas, improves tissue nutrition and relieves pain. Additionally, it improves circulation, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues, which help eliminate waste substances, accelerates post-injury recovery and promotes healing.

REFLEXOLOGY AND FOOT MASSAGE – Reflexology is a technique involving the application of pressure to hyperalgic zones, which accompany diseases of the internal organs. A repertoire of specific techniques and pressures is used on the soles of the feet. This specialised technique can affect the functioning of the internal organs and thereby help balance the neuro-vegetative system. This type of massage is effective for headaches, exhaustion and irritability, insomnia, depression, digestive system disorders, irritable bladder syndrome, climacteric syndrome and tired leg syndrome.

AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE - During aromatherapy massage natural essential oils are applied to alleviate rheumatic pains and facilitate muscle and overall relaxation. Prior to the massage, essential oils are mixed with the massage base oil, which serves as their medium. During the massage you first become aware of the scent, but soon you begin to feel many other effects as well. The essential oils penetrate the skin more deeply than vegetable oils and reach the bloodstream after 20 to 30 minutes. Their effect on the body is much longer lasting.

MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE – This method relies on a high level of expertise. Through a series of special touches and other manual techniques, it accelerates venous return in the treated limb. During the procedure the capillary bloodstream flow is enhanced, which subsequently improves arterial blood flow and, in particular, lymphatic drainage. The improved circulation and enhanced lymphatic drainage of the limb lead to a reduction in swelling and relief of chronic lymphedema, as well as improved blood circulation and nutrition.

LYMFOVEN – This is a device for sequential pressurised drainage of the upper or lower limbs or the abdomen, buttocks and thighs. This treatment also helps to eliminate waste products and subcutaneous fat from the skin and enhances its firmness and elasticity. The skin immediately becomes well perfused and smooth; this massage is also employed cosmetically as a supportive treatment against cellulite.

HEAD MASSAGE – There is an intense concentration of energy in the head; the face reflects mental and emotional problems. Premature wrinkles are caused through long-term constriction of the mimic muscles. Head massage has beneficial effects against headaches and migraine attacks. In the psychological and emotional realm it helps release tension and facilitate an overall sense of calmness.

SHIATSU – This is a Japanese massage method that works with the energy of the body and the system of acupuncture meridians through which this energy flows. This procedure has overall benefits, harmonises the organism, reliably eliminates tension, soothes pain in joints and muscles, combats headaches and stimulates vitality and the immune system. Shiatsu massage is also an excellent and pleasurable form of relaxation.

BATHS

PEARL BATH – This is a massage bath in water that is saturated with compressed air. The temperature of the water is 36° - 37°C. Air is added through a special perforated grid set in the base of the bathtub under a pressure of 0.15 MPa. This bath helps relieve the following problems: dysfunction of the locomotive system and the joints, rheumatism, chronic inflammation of the pelvis minor organs, climacteric problems, insomnia, pathological fatigue, neurotic problems, blood circulation disorders, mental and muscular tension and excessive stress.

CARBON DIOXIDE BATH – This bath is prepared by saturating water at a temperature of 32 - 34°C with carbon dioxide fed from a pressure cylinder. The lower water temperature is necessary to dissolve the sufficient amount of CO2 in the water. The initial cool feeling is replaced by a pleasant sensation of warmth after about 10 seconds. The water should not be unnecessarily agitated or swirled and the patient should move as little as possible in the bath to prevent excessive accumulation of CO2 above the water surface. The carbon dioxide bath lowers blood pressure and improves cardiac function and blood circulation.

WHIRLPOOL MASSAGE – This is a gentle massage with swirling water. It is applied in a bathtub one half or three quarters full of water at a constant temperature (36° - 37°C). This bath helps improve blood circulation in the extremities, activates skin receptors and relieves muscle and joint stiffness.

AROMATIC BATH – During this bath essential oils in natural curative water act on the entire body for stimulation, sedation, relaxation or toning purposes, depending on the kind of essential oil utilised. Aromatic baths positively affect the locomotive system, release muscle tension and help relieve pain.

HYDROXEUR – During this bath, intensive underwater massage is provided in a special tub by gentle streams of water supersaturated with air or oxygen. This bath is beneficial for muscular-skeletal conditions, post-operative conditions, muscle and joint injuries, nervous system disorders, some vascular conditions and arthritis.

PEAT BATH – The peat bath consists of a mixture of peat and mineral water. Peat is rich in organic matter, especially humic acid, tannins, waxes and enzymes. Through its composition it increases blood circulation (which also warms the body), improves muscle activity and also promotes more rapid elimination of hematomas.

UNDERWATER MASSAGE – This is applied in a warm bath at a temperature of 37°C (36° - 38°) in a large multi-purpose tub. The actual massage is conducted using the energy of a water current, which flows under a pressure of 0.2 – 0.4 MPa (i.e. 2 to 4 atm.). The water flow is directed onto the body manually, from a distance of 10 to 15 cm and at an angle of 30° - 60°. The intensity of the massage can be regulated by altering the distance and the angle of application. This massage works primarily to relax stiff muscles and connective tissue, reduce pain and help relax joints.

PACKS

PEAT PACK – A peat pack helps renew skin cells, has an antibacterial effect and enhances immunity. Depending on its composition, the pack increases blood circulation, improves muscle and joint function, promotes more rapid elimination of hematomas, assists in the healing of eczema and/or improves cellulitis conditions. Its role in the prevention of obesity has recently been demonstrated.

WAX PACK – This is a thermal pack consisting of natural wax that pleasantly combines gentle heat with aromatic fragrance. It has a positive effect on the thermo-regulation of the body; beeswax contains many valuable elements, and after its application the skin is soft and smooth. It is recommended for muscular and joint pains, rheumatic diseases, headaches and migraines.

HAY PACK – This is a localised thermal therapy used to relax muscles prior to massage and for post-massage soothing. The pack brings palpable relief from the pain of rheumatic problems, promotes blood circulation and encourages the body to initiate detoxification.

PARAFFIN PACK – This pack is effective for skeletal and muscle relaxation, relieves cramps, reduces chronic pain, increases local blood circulation and improves tissue nutrition and healing.

LAWATHERM – This type of thermotherapy is used to relax muscles. The local application of heat stimulates surface tissues, thereby increasing blood circulation, combined with an increase in surface temperature and, secondarily, relief for internal organs. It also accelerates metabolism in the tissues and elimination of acidic substances from the body.

GAS WRAPS AND INJECTIONS

GAS WRAPS – This is a dry carbon dioxide bath (CO2) that is applied either to the entire body or to parts of the body (the limbs). The patient's body or limb is enclosed in a special plastic bag, which is inflated with about 125 litres of carbon dioxide, of which approximately 2 litres is absorbed through the skin. The medium consists of 95 - 100% carbon dioxide. Heat also accumulates in the enclosed plastic bag so that the carbon dioxide is also moisturised by perspiration. This bath improves blood supply to the organs, brain and muscle tissues due to the vasodilatation of the blood vessels (including capillaries). This improves blood flow and enhances blood circulation in the myocardium, resulting in improved heart activity, lower blood pressure, better blood circulation in the limbs and decreased swelling. This bath also has a positive effect on cellulitis and helps the skin to heal more rapidly.

GAS INJECTION – This is an application of gas from Mary's Spring into the subcutaneous tissues in the vicinity of the large joints and the spine. Its main effects are to reduce pain, improve blood circulation and accelerate healing. This procedure is helpful for blood circulation disorders of the limbs, ischemic heart disease, degenerative joint diseases and spinal pain syndrome.

INHALATION AND OXYGEN THERAPY

INHALATION – Inhalation of mineral water is used to improve the function of respiratory tract mucous membrane. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, dissolves mucus and facilitates expectoration. Medicaments can be added to the mineral water for difficult asthma cases, or natural salt or herbal infusions for catarrh of the upper respiratory tract.

OXYGEN THERAPY – Oxygen therapy involves inhalation of air with the content of oxygen increased to 40 - 60% and moderately moistened. This mixture is inhaled through a mask or nasal catheter. The long-term application of oxygen eliminates the effects of chronic hypoxia, increases the capacity for physical activity, improves physical condition and mental performance, increases stress tolerance and neutralises its consequences and improves myocardial perfusion. It works to prevent coronary and cerebral episodes, supports brain metabolism, stabilises blood circulation and some other pulmonary and cardiac functions and strengthens the immune system. It acts as a general regenerative treatment, prevents myocardial infarction and angina pectoris and increases stamina.

GEROVITAL – This is an injected regenerative cure containing procaine. It slows down ageing and improves the capacity for concentration and memory.

DRINKING CURE – The principle of the drinking cure is that a certain quantity of mineral water is consumed one to three times a day based on a prescription. The drinking cure affects the body through its temperature, its chemical composition and the volume of mineral water. Different mineral waters obviously have different health effects. The drinking cure stimulates the kidneys to increase their activity and has a favourable effect on intestinal peristalsis. Drinking mineral water before a meal increases the active effect of the minerals and is conducive to their improved absorption. An important element of the drinking cure is the induction of the correct drinking regime. In the quiet atmosphere of the spa this intake of water is unforced and natural, and the habit is subsequently continued in the home environment.
