Which way does the route from Mariánské Lázně to Kladská go?
The first part of the trip takes you through the spa district of Mariánské Lázně. The Forest Spring is a pleasant first stop, which still evokes the town’s spa character. Beyond it, the path gradually climbs towards Lunapark. The name may sound surprising, but it is simply a crossroads named after the now-defunct LunaPark café, from where the route continues into the forest towards Kladská.
The path from Lunapark continues through the Slavkov Forest, passing small springs and wells, and leads to Králův kámen.
The destination of the trip is Kladská. The place has a completely different feel to the spa centre of Mariánské Lázně. Here you’ll find Kladský Pond, the Slavkov Forest Nature Centre, a hunting lodge and a nature trail leading around the peat bogs. It’s well worth getting off your bike for a moment here and exploring the surroundings on foot. The nature trail passes through a sensitive area, so it’s best to stick to the marked paths.
There are two ways to return from Kladská. The simpler option follows the same route back via Králův kámen, Lunapark and Lesní pramen to Mariánské Lázně. It is straightforward, easy to follow and suitable for those who want to enjoy the trip without having to search for forest paths.
A more interesting and challenging return route leads from Kladská via Skautská cesta, Tanková cesta and Smetanova alej back to Mariánské Lázně. This turns the trip into a more varied loop, offering more forest sections. However, you should also expect more variable terrain and bear in mind that the path may be more difficult to cycle on after rain.
The entire trip is designed for cyclists who want to combine Mariánské Lázně with the natural beauty of the Slavkov Forest and do not mind the climbs. The route is not suitable for beginner cyclists.
