Biotop Brno-jih swimming centre
The Biotop Brno-South swimming pool is a lovely place to relax by the water in summer, without having to travel far out of town. You’ll find it in Horní Heršpice, not far from the River Svratka. Unlike a traditional swimming pool, the water here isn’t chemically treated, but is purified naturally using aquatic plants, filtration zones and microorganisms.
The site opened in 2014 as Brno’s first public natural swimming biotope. With its grassy areas, swimming lagoon, children’s facilities and refreshments, it’s the perfect spot for a quick dip or a whole summer’s afternoon.
What to expect
The main part of the biotope consists of a swimming lagoon divided into a swimming area and a non-swimming area. The swimming zone is up to 3 metres deep, whilst the shallower section is suitable for less experienced swimmers and children under supervision. For the youngest visitors, there is a separate paddling pool with a depth of up to 40 centimetres.
As well as swimming, you can also make use of the beach volleyball court on the premises. There are play equipment and a sandpit for children.
How to get there
The swimming pool is located on K Lávce Street in Brno-Horní Heršpice. You can get there by car, public transport or by bike. There is a car park next to the complex, and the Brno–Vienna cycle path runs nearby, so you can combine a visit to the swimming pool with a bike ride.
Before visiting, we recommend checking the current opening hours, occupancy and price list on the swimming pool’s official website. Seasonal opening hours may vary depending on the weather.
