Where does the route go?
From the spa centre, the route heads north towards the greener part of Mariánské Lázně. It gradually joins Alej svobody and continues towards Lázně Kynžvart. The main stop on this part of the trip is Kynžvart Castle, where you can plan a longer break, stroll through the castle grounds or go on a guided tour.
From the castle, the route continues towards the spa complex. Just before you reach it, you may come across a miniature model of the National Stud Farm in Kladruby nad Labem by the side of the path; this has been loaned here from the Boheminium Park in Mariánské Lázně. The route then turns onto the cycle path around the spa park and continues through the area around the Holiny and Stoh hills back to Mariánské Lázně. Smetana’s Avenue makes for a pleasant end to the return journey.
Before setting off, please check the current opening hours of Kynžvart Castle, as these vary depending on the season.

The Avenue of Freedom links Mariánské Lázně and Lázně Kynžvart. According to the entry in the ‘Avenue of the Year’ competition, it is approximately 3.3 km long and consists of oaks, maples and beeches.
The main stop on the trip is Kynžvart Castle, which is primarily associated with the Metternich family. The original Renaissance chateau was built in the valley below Kynžvart Castle at the end of the 16th century; it was later rebuilt and, in the 19th century, remodelled in the Classicist style according to plans by the architect Pietro Nobile. The château is set within extensive English-style grounds, which are described as one of the largest château parks in the Czech Republic. The château’s management states on its website that bicycle racks are available for cyclists.
The spa environment is an integral part of Kynžvart Spa. The spa complex features a barefoot trail and a Kneipp bath set up in the stream.
This miniature depicts one of the most recent additions to the UNESCO list in the Czech Republic. The original site in Kladruby nad Labem is the oldest active horse breeding station in the world and the home of the Kladruby horse. The model comes from the collection of Boheminium Park in Mariánské Lázně.
It is an avenue of deciduous trees that once lined the historic carriage road leading to Kynžvart Castle.
