Rothmayer Villa

Rothmayer Villa

Prague

The Rothmayer Villa was built between 1929 and 1930. The architect Otto Rothmayer, who had it built, lived here with his wife and son. The villa served as a centre of cultural life for family friends in addition to the family's facilities. For example, the photographer Josef Sudek or the glassmaker René Roubíček, whose works decorate the garden. Today, the villa is one of the most important monuments of Czech interwar architecture and, thanks to the preservation of the house, interiors and garden, it is also a unique testimony to the working environment, intellectual background and lifestyle of the Rothmayer family.
