Ruins of Zubštejn Castle
The ruins of Zubštejn Castle, also known as Zubrštejn or Zubří kámen, is a beautifully wild place hidden above the village of Pivonice in the Žďár region. The castle was once one of the really large medieval fortresses and stood on the long ridge of the hill of the same name. Today there are remnants of the walls, which look a bit mysterious and blend in well with the surrounding landscape. Zubštejn is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and a trip here will delight especially those who like ruins and views. However, expect more challenging terrain and access, so this is not a route suitable for strollers.
